Dr. Martín Polanco is the most experienced physician in North America working with ibogaine and 5-MeO-DMT. Over the past 25 years, he has treated more than 5,000 individuals—including over 1,300 veterans and special operators—facing PTSD, traumatic brain injury, addiction, and depression. His pioneering clinical model integrates safety, trauma-informed care, and psychedelic science into a comprehensive healing framework now used globally.
Dr. Polanco founded The Mission Within Center, a psychedelic clinical program by and for veterans, and previously launched Crossroads Treatment Center, the first medically supervised ibogaine clinic in North America. At the forefront of psychedelic care for decades, he has helped advance a new treatment paradigm that blends neuroscience, compassion, and integrity. He also founded the Mission Within Foundation, advancing psychedelic therapy for veterans and first responders through research and funding.
His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Economist, US News & World Report, and on The Tim Ferriss Show, and is central to Lucy Walker’s forthcoming film, “Of Night and Light: The Story of Iboga and Ibogaine.” Dr. Polanco has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed studies and presented at leading institutions including Yale, Stanford, and the Department of Defense.
His clinical vision was shaped by a near-death experience at age 17 and by witnessing a loved one recover through ibogaine—under unsafe conditions. These experiences catalyzed his life’s mission: to create safe, ethical, and effective psychedelic care for those who need it most.
Dr. Polanco remains committed to making these therapies legally accessible through data-driven advocacy, scientific collaboration, and a deep commitment to human dignity and healing.
