Julie Brody, based in Atherton, CA, has a strong background in healthcare, education, and mindfulness practices. She earned her BSN from the University of Iowa (1976) and became a licensed RN. She later pursued an M.A. in Women’s Spirituality from Sofia University (2011) and has received certifications in mindfulness, yoga, and spiritual practices. Notably, she completed teacher training with Mindful Schools, Avalon Yoga, and Jack Kornfield & Tara Brach’s Two Year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program.
Her professional experience includes working as a nurse at California Pacific Medical Center (1980-1993) and Evanston Hospital (1976-1980). Julie has also been actively involved in leadership roles and volunteering in various local organizations, including the Menlo-Atherton Education Foundation, Hillview Middle School, and Menlo-Atherton High School, where she held key positions such as PTA President. She currently volunteers at Polaris Insight Center in San Francisco and supports retreats with IFS and ketamine with Richard Schwartz and others, as RN support.
Julie is dedicated to supporting her community through her past work with Mission Hospice, Ravenswood Family Health Center, and as a certified mindfulness instructor at Oak Knoll Elementary School and SafeSpace. Additionally, she started the “Ride for Ravenswood” event to raise funds for healthcare for underserved communities, which ran for seven years and supported the Ravenswood Family Health Clinic in East Palo Alto.
Outside of her professional and volunteer work, Julie enjoys meditation, yoga, reading, spin, kite-boarding, and spending time with her family and pets.
